Ex-Head of Lviv Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center Accused of False Financial Reporting

According to НАЗК: The State Bureau of Investigations (DBR) has formally charged the former leader of the district Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support (TCRC&SS) in Lviv region with knowingly submitting a false asset declaration for the year 2024. The inaccuracies identified in the declaration exceed 4.5 million hryvnias. The National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP) conducted the initial audit, while the pre-trial investigation is being handled by the DBR's regional office in Lviv under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office for the Western region.

Significant discrepancies were found in the ex-official's declaration. Notably, property rights to an apartment in Lviv valued at more than 1.8 million hryvnias, registered under his wife's name, were omitted. Additionally, the declaration reported 2.5 million hryvnias in cash, despite his documented income supporting accumulation of no more than 684,000 hryvnias. His wife declared holding $40,000 in cash, although her verified earnings should have allowed for no more than $20,000.

Legal Proceedings and Broader Anti-Corruption Efforts

The former official is being prosecuted under Article 366-2, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which addresses the intentional submission of knowingly false information in official declarations. The investigation remains ongoing.

This case is part of Ukraine's wider anti-corruption drive, which includes rigorous audits of public officials' asset declarations. Exposing such violations underscores the critical need for transparency in financial reporting by government employees and serves as a deterrent for others in public service. These investigations play a vital role in bolstering public trust in state institutions amid ongoing reforms.

The ongoing scrutiny of asset declarations among public officials highlights the broader implications of corruption in Ukraine. In a related case, four local council deputies are facing trial for discrepancies in their financial disclosures. This reinforces the commitment to accountability and transparency within government institutions, which is essential for restoring public trust.
