Where in Ukraine rent takes the largest share of salary
In Ukraine, significant differences have been recorded between cities regarding what share of their salary residents have to give for renting a one-bedroom apartment. The worst situation is in Uzhhorod, where housing expenses reach 83% of income. The median rent price there is 19.6 thousand UAH, the highest among regional centers. This is reported by Economic Truth.
Such data is contained in the OLX Real Estate study. Analysts note that in large cities of western and central Ukraine, rent remains a serious financial burden. In particular, in Lviv, 72% of the salary goes for housing with a median cost of 18 thousand UAH, while in Kyiv it is 68% of income for a rent of 16 thousand UAH. In Ivano-Frankivsk, the figure is 64% or 14.7 thousand UAH.
Rent and salary: cities with the highest burden
Uzhhorod - 83%, 19.6 thousand UAH
Lviv - 72%, 18 thousand UAH
Kyiv - 68%, 16 thousand UAH
Ivano-Frankivsk - 64%, 14.7 thousand UAH
Vinnytsia - 60%, 12 thousand UAH
Lutsk - 56%, 14 thousand UAH
Rivne - 55%, 11 thousand UAH.
In Poltava, rent takes 53% of income at a cost of 10 thousand UAH, in Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi - 50% at prices of 10 thousand and 11.3 thousand UAH respectively.
Share of income on rent: where housing is relatively more affordable
To cities with a more moderate ratio of rental rates to salaries, analysts attributed:
Cherkasy - 48%, 10 thousand UAH
Khmelnytskyi - 44%, 10 thousand UAH
Dnipro - 44%, 10 thousand UAH
Kropyvnytskyi - 43%, 8 thousand UAH
Chernihiv - 37%, 6.5 thousand UAH
Sumy - 34%, 6 thousand UAH.
The lowest share of expenses has been recorded in cities close to the combat zone. In Zaporizhzhia, rent accounts for 29% of the salary at a price of 5.5 thousand UAH, in Kharkiv - 25% and 5 thousand UAH. The most affordable rent among regional centers is in Kherson: 15% of income or 3.7 thousand UAH.
