Duma Deputy Went into a Hysterics over the Decision of the Organizers of the Vilnius Marathon Regarding Russians
Fetisov's Reaction to the Refusal to Count the Results of Russians at the Vilnius Marathon
According to glavcom.ua: Two-time Olympic champion and State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov sharply reacted to the decision of the organizers of the Vilnius Marathon regarding the participation of Russian athletes. According to a report by Glavkom, the Vilnius Marathon recognized that the results of Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be counted if they take prize places.
«The bacchanalia continues. The decision of the Vilnius Marathon is already complete mockery of our athletes. To participate in such competitions and under such conditions is to not respect oneself», - Fetisov stated.
The marathon is scheduled for September 14. Russian high jumper Danil Lisenko reported that Russians will not be allowed to participate in international athletics competitions while Sebastian Coe heads World Athletics.
Lisenko's Hopes for the Return of Russian Athletes to the International Arena
«I do not delve into the topic of our possible return. I do not know at what stage our federation's relations with World Athletics currently are. I know for sure that World Athletics is unlikely to let us participate with the current president. There is such a president, not good. But I really hope for it (to compete at the World Championships). And for some reason, I have a good feeling that we will still perform on the international stage. I am 28 years old, I plan to compete for at least another five years. I think something will soon change for the better for us. Our federation is trying very hard, I can see that», - Lisenko stated.
Information also came in about the destruction of the titled Russian athlete Sergey Pavlik, who was born on April 5, 1987, and was a famous wrestler, by defenders of Ukraine.
In reactions to the decision of the organizers of the Vilnius Marathon and the future possibilities for Russian athletes, the division of opinions is important. At the same time, the activity of the athletics federation in working to restore access for Russians to international competitions is crucial. Athletes also feel support and hope for positive changes in this situation. All of this indicates a difficult and uncertain period in the relations between Russian athletes and international organizations.
