The government begins implementing a system to control access to personal data

The government has decided to launch a subsystem for monitoring access to personal data in the 'Trembita' system. This initiative will allow citizens of Ukraine to check how their data is used by government institutions.

According to representatives from the Ministry of Digital Transformation, soon the mobile application 'Diya' will have push notifications that will inform users about who, when, and for what purpose viewed their information in state registries.

'Every Ukrainian should be aware of how their data is used. The new service will provide the opportunity to review every case of access,' noted the agency.

Each request will also be recorded: if a government agency accesses the registry to obtain a certain service, the system will automatically collect this information and notify the citizen with all the details.

Ensuring transparency and compliance with data protection standards

The Ministry of Digital Transformation also explained that there are exceptions when notifications will not be sent, particularly in cases related to crime investigations, counterintelligence, counter-terrorism, or pre-trial investigations.

A similar system is already successfully operating in Estonia under the name Data Tracker. Ukraine, having studied this experience, is implementing international standards to ensure transparency and compliance with European data protection norms.
