Dynamo Kyiv Fined Over One Million Hryvnias Following Clash with Shakhtar Donetsk
UAF Control and Disciplinary Committee Ruling on Dynamo vs. Shakhtar
According to Главком: The Control and Disciplinary Committee of the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF CDC) has issued its decision regarding the match between Dynamo and Shakhtar, played on May 3, 2026, as part of the 26th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL). As a result, both clubs face financial penalties for violations that occurred during the game. This ruling highlights ongoing efforts to enforce stadium regulations and address fan misconduct in Ukrainian football.
Dynamo was fined a total of 1.115 million hryvnias for multiple infractions. Specifically, the club must pay:
- 500,000 hryvnias for the repeated use of pyrotechnics by fans;
- 200,000 hryvnias for exceeding the maximum permitted stadium capacity;
- 15,000 hryvnias for unauthorized individuals entering the playing area;
- 100,000 hryvnias for repeated obscene and offensive chants directed at the referee;
- 300,000 hryvnias and a partial closure of Sector 5 for the next home match due to the display of discriminatory symbols.
Shakhtar, for its part, received a fine of 210,000 hryvnias for the repeated use of pyrotechnics by its supporters.
Player Achievements in the 2025/26 Season
During the 2025/26 campaign, Dynamo’s Matviy Ponomarenko emerged as the UPL’s top scorer, netting 13 goals in 15 matches. He achieved this feat by scoring in four separate games during the first half of the season. Meanwhile, Pylyp Budkivskyi (Zorya) and Andriy Storchous (Kudrivka) finished the season with 12 goals each, while Gleyker Mendoza (Kryvbas) ended with 11 goals and is reportedly set for a transfer to Shakhtar during the offseason.
The fines imposed on Dynamo and Shakhtar underscore the severity of the violations that took place during the match. This UAF CDC decision could influence fan behavior in future games, as financial penalties for misconduct may serve as a deterrent for similar incidents. Additionally, Matviy Ponomarenko’s success as the league's top scorer highlights his importance to the team, which could impact clubs' transfer strategies during the offseason, particularly regarding potential player moves.
The recent ruling against Dynamo Kyiv not only emphasizes the importance of adhering to stadium regulations but also reflects a broader trend in football governance. Similar actions have been taken by UEFA, as evidenced by a recent case involving Shakhtar Donetsk, which faced fines due to fan behavior.
