Russia's plans to involve North Koreans to work in Tatarstan

It is planned that by 2025, up to 12 thousand workers from North Korea will be employed in Tatarstan. This concerns enterprises in the special economic zone 'Alabuga'. This information was released by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

According to intelligence, attack drones Shahed/Geran are produced on the territory of 'Alabuga', which are used by Russian troops in military actions against Ukraine. Due to a labor shortage, the Russian government plans to attract workers from North Korea for these tasks.

Plans to attract workers from North Korea

According to intelligence, Russian officials met with representatives of Jihyang Technology Trade Company from North Korea, which specializes in sending labor abroad. The meeting discussed the possible involvement of North Korean workers in drone production in Russia.

Working conditions for North Korean workers

North Koreans who accept the offer to work in Russia will be offered a payment of approximately 2.5 dollars per hour. The shift will last no less than 12 hours, but according to intelligence, the proposed conditions are suspiciously exploitative.

The GUR claims that the cooperation between Russia and North Korea on employment issues indicates support for the war against Ukraine and a joint strategic approach of both states.

Russia plans to bring in up to 12 thousand workers from North Korea to work in the special economic zone 'Alabuga' in Tatarstan. These enterprises are engaged in the production of attack drones used by Russian troops. North Koreans are promised a payment of 2.5 dollars per hour, but the working conditions may raise doubts about labor exploitation. Such cooperation between the dictatorial regimes of Russia and North Korea may have serious consequences for the security of the region and exacerbate the conflict in eastern Ukraine.
