Assistance 800 Plus: Poland is changing the rules for applying
Poland is preparing changes to the rules for determining assistance 800 Plus, which are expected to significantly simplify the procedure for parents and guardians. The Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy has initiated amendments to the law that provide for the cancellation of the annual application submission. This is reported by inPoland.
The draft amendments have already been included in the government's legislative agenda and published on the website of the Council of Ministers. The agency emphasizes that the new rules aim to organize the payment system and reduce the bureaucratic burden on families.
Assistance 800 Plus: how the current rules work
Currently, the calculation period for payments runs from June 1 to May 31 of the following year. Parents or legal guardians must submit an application each year within the following deadlines:
- from February 15 to April 30 – payments are assigned without interruption
- by June 30 – assistance is granted with a delay, but with compensation for previous months
After June 30, ZUS also accepts applications, but in this case, payments are assigned only from the month of submission, without compensation for the past period.

Assistance 800 Plus: what will change after the law is adopted
The proposed amendment provides for the cancellation of the obligation to submit an annual application for assistance 800 Plus. As noted in the justification, it is planned to introduce a mechanism for the automatic renewal of the right to payments for the next periods.
Automatic continuation of assistance will be based on data already held by ZUS. If the family situation does not change, payments will continue without additional actions from parents or guardians. In case of changes, the information can be updated.
The Ministry of Family, Labor, and Social Policy proposes that the Council of Ministers adopt the draft law in the second half of 2026. In this case, the new rules are likely to come into effect in 2027.
Let us remind you that earlier Poland limited 800+ for Ukrainians.
