Future of Warfare Lies with Sabotage Units and FPV Drones, Says 'Shkval' Battalion Trainer
The Army's Prospects and the Role of Sabotage Units
According to ХВИЛЯ: In an interview with political expert Yuriy Romanenko, Anton Chornyi, an instructor for the 'Shkval' battalion, outlined his vision for the future of the military. He stressed that new technologies and tactical approaches, particularly the use of sabotage groups supported by FPV drones, have the potential to fundamentally alter the course of combat, especially in modern conflicts. This perspective comes as drone warfare has become a decisive factor on contemporary battlefields.
Chornyi highlighted that the 'Shkval' battalion is uniquely composed of former prisoners. The instructor believes the army's future depends on developing these small, agile sabotage units that can operate effectively with unmanned aerial vehicle support.
'I believe the future lies precisely with these sabotage groups, now supported by FPV drones. Even with their troop density, it's possible to breach the line of contact.' Anton Chornyi
Furthermore, Chornyi was critical of the current mobilization system, pointing to problems arising from poorly trained personnel and inadequate logistics.
'If your defense is not properly established, logistics are not organized, the rear is in disarray, and personnel are unprepared – what kind of offensive can we talk about? It will just be another meat assault.' Anton Chornyi
The instructor argued that his battalion has an advantage in training fighters because they not only train recruits but also immediately deploy them into combat. 'The difference is that we both train them and send them into battle. We bear the responsibility... But what about regular mobilized soldiers? First, they are deceived, then they are told one story in training, and when they arrive in the combat zone, they are simply told: 'That's it, you go into battle tomorrow.' What is the efficiency coefficient here? Minimal,' Anton Chornyi concluded.
The Urgent Need for Military Reforms
This vision of the army's future is likely to fuel debate over the necessity of military reforms and the need for new approaches to training and mobilizing personnel. Given modern challenges, military experts may use Chornyi's views to justify changes in strategies and tactics related to army formation and personnel preparation.
