Kyiv's 'Musafir' Restaurant Opens Overnight as a Warm Haven During Power Crisis
'Musafir' Restaurant's New Operating Hours
According to Главком: To help Kyiv residents find warmth and charge their devices during the ongoing energy crisis, the 'Musafir' restaurant, which serves Crimean Tatar cuisine, has switched to overnight operations. Starting January 22, the establishment is open from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The restaurant's administration confirmed the schedule change, noting that while the full kitchen is not operational during these hours, tea, coffee, and other non-alcoholic beverages are available. This initiative is part of a broader adaptation by Kyiv businesses to the severe strain on Ukraine's power grid.
Curfew Eased in Emergency Zones
A curfew has been relaxed in areas under a state of emergency due to the energy system's condition, allowing capital residents to access essential services. Furthermore, since January 17, the Uklon and Bolt taxi services have been operating around the clock in Kyiv. Drivers for these services are permitted to transport passengers during curfew hours to 'invincibility points' (warming centers), heating locations, or hospitals.
'Musafir' restaurant extends an open invitation to anyone in need of shelter, hot drinks, and a power outlet.
“If you need warmth, hot drinks, and a chance to recharge, we will be happy to see you,” said representatives of the establishment.
The restaurant's shift in hours reflects the wider efforts of Kyiv's businesses to adapt to the prolonged energy crisis in Ukraine. Finding solutions for heating and electricity access is becoming increasingly critical for the city's inhabitants. Simultaneously, the easing of the curfew and the 24/7 operation of taxi services demonstrate the authorities' attempts to maintain the city's vital functions under emergency conditions.
