Composer Rychlynskyi Condemns Povaliy's Wish for a 'Russian Kyiv'
Yevhen Rychlynskyi's Response to Taisiia Povaliy's Statement
According to Главком: Ukrainian composer Yevhen Rychlynskyi has publicly condemned singer Taisiia Povaliy for expressing a desire for Kyiv to become Russian. Povaliy made the controversial remarks during an interview with Russian propagandist Volodymyr Skachko, sparking outrage among many Ukrainians. Rychlynskyi, who previously wrote hit songs for Povaliy, denounced her words in a Facebook post.
“Once again, Taisiia Povaliy. The traitor has once more stated the unacceptable in an interview: 'I need Kyiv to be Russian',” wrote Rychlynskyi.
He further emphasized that “you will find yourself in hell sooner than Kyiv will be part of Rashka. Remember that, you scum!” This sharp retort was a direct response to her widely circulated comments. Such statements are seen as particularly egregious given Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine.
The Taisiia Povaliy Controversy
Taisiia Povaliy, a well-known singer and former MP from the Party of Regions, was granted Russian citizenship on August 24, 2023. She is currently subject to personal sanctions for a period of five years. Her situation continues to provoke anger in Ukrainian society, especially following her remarks about Kyiv, which she described as her 'arrested' home.
Povaliy's comments about Kyiv have caused a major uproar in Ukraine, where they are widely perceived as blatant betrayal against the backdrop of the ongoing war with Russia. The reaction from Yevhen Rychlynskyi and other Ukrainian citizens highlights deep concern over the loyalties of public figures, who many believe should support their country in difficult times. This incident underscores the significant cultural and political divides exposed by the conflict and is likely to have lasting consequences for Povaliy's career.
