The dollar exchange rate rose to a psychological mark on October 15
On October 15, the dollar in Ukraine sharply increased in price, for the first time approaching the psychological threshold of 42 hryvnias in the cash market. Banks updated their displays, and exchange offices reacted immediately, raising the rate for both buying and selling currency. This is reported by UNIAN.

The situation in exchange offices is similar:
-
average dollar exchange rate - 41.85 UAH with a selling price of 41.70 UAH;
-
euro - 48.82 UAH, sold for 48.60 UAH.
The official exchange rate of the National Bank as of October 15 was 41.75 UAH per dollar, which is 14 kopecks higher than the day before. The euro added 11 kopecks and costs 48.24 UAH. Thus, the hryvnia has lost ground against both key currencies.
Why the dollar is rising again
Financial analysts explain that the rise of the dollar is associated with increased demand for currency and seasonal fluctuations. Economist Danilo Monin advises to focus specifically on the dollar while the National Bank keeps it below the level of 42 UAH. In his view, investments in euros currently seem less advantageous:
«The European currency has significantly strengthened against the US dollar this year, but fundamentally the EU economy is weaker than the American one».
Analysts remind that exchange rate fluctuations may last until the end of October - until external trade stabilizes and demand for energy resources stabilizes.
Earlier we reported that the dollar will cost 50 hryvnias in 2029 according to the IMF forecast.
