Free Travel for People with Disabilities: Who is Eligible and How to Access It

Ukrainians have been informed that persons with disabilities are entitled to free use of public transport. In particular, this applies to persons with disabilities, children with special needs, and one accompanying person.

Individuals with disabilities of the first and second groups, as well as children with disabilities, can use all types of public transport, including the metro. From October 1 to May 15, they can also receive a 50% discount on tickets for domestic flights of various types of transport.

Carriers must comply with the law and cannot refuse to transport persons with disabilities without legal grounds. Even the absence of 'available concession seats' cannot be an excuse for refusal. Penalties are provided for drivers and transport companies for violations of this rule.
