Construction Progress on the Vynohradar Metro Stations

According to Главком: Work on the new Syretsko-Pecherska line stations for the Vynohradar district has now entered its most active phase. At the Varshavska station, the construction of the reversing sidings is nearing completion, and the monolithic concrete stage is already finished. Crews are currently installing waterproofing and building an underground pedestrian crossing under the European Union Avenue to access the station. Concurrently, a new potable water pipeline is being laid along the avenue.

At the Mostytska station, work is ongoing to erect the monolithic structures for the station vestibule. Between the Mostytska and Varshavska stations, over 800 meters of double-deck monolithic tunnels have been built and are now being fitted with modern soundproofing and vibration-dampening systems. This is a critical consideration given Kyiv's dense urban environment, aimed at minimizing acoustic impact on nearby residential buildings.

Updated Completion Dates and Energy Independence

Kyiv Metro's management has announced revised completion dates for the project. The primary structural work on Mostytska station is now scheduled for 2026, with passenger service expected to begin no earlier than 2027. On October 9th, during a session of the Kyiv City Council, Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated that:

"In 2026, at least one station in Vynohradar will be opened" - Vitali Klitschko

The entire Vynohradar metro construction site is fully energy-independent, operating on backup power sources. This ensures that work can continue uninterrupted even during citywide electricity blackouts. While requiring additional coordination and resources, this setup has not impacted the overall construction pace or the adherence to the work schedule. This project is a significant part of Kyiv's ongoing efforts to modernize its public transport network, which has faced challenges due to the war.

The new Vynohradar stations represent a vital step in developing Kyiv's transport infrastructure, designed to improve accessibility and reduce strain on existing routes. With the stated completion targets, the opening is now planned for the 2026-2027 period, reflecting the city administration's commitment to advancing public transit. The project's energy independence further highlights its resilience and adaptability to contemporary challenges, particularly those related to power supply stability.
