Martial Law and Mobilization in Ukraine

Martial law and general mobilization continue in Ukraine, within which conscripts are obliged to undergo a military-medical commission (MMC). In this regard, experts have detailed the diseases that may grant the right to deferment from service, as well as the categories of citizens subject to mobilization in December.

Categories of Conscripts and Deferment

The main category of conscripts consists of men aged 25 to 60 without military experience. Men aged 18 to 60 who have military service experience are also subject to mobilization. It is important to note that citizens who were previously discharged from service for medical reasons may be mobilized after a re-examination.

The deferment term for the MMC may vary from 1 to 6 months depending on the type of disease. For example:

  • Acute infectious diseases – 1-2 months.
  • Post-surgical intervention course – from 2 to 6 months.
  • Exacerbation of chronic pathologies – from 1 to 3 months.
  • Injuries and their consequences – from 1 to 3 months, sometimes up to 6 months.
  • Post-COVID-19 course – 1-3 months.
  • Musculoskeletal disorders – from 1 to 2 months.
  • Temporary mental and stress disorders – from 1 to 3 months.
  • Endocrine states and cardiovascular disorders – 1-3 months.
  • Allergic conditions and skin diseases – 1-2 months.
  • Status after poisoning – 1 month.

Considering these factors, the mobilization system continues to operate in Ukraine in December 2023, taking into account both the military experience of conscripts and their health.

This information is crucial for understanding the conditions under which men may receive a deferment from service, and it also emphasizes that medical indications have a significant impact on mobilization processes.

The continuation of mobilization in Ukraine reflects the ongoing needs to ensure the country's defense capability under martial law, as well as the increasing burden on the healthcare system, which must assess the health status of conscripts.
