Mobile Communication in Regions: 100 New Base Stations to Be Built Under Accelerated Procedure
New Base Stations in Ukraine
Mobile operators in Ukraine plan to build 100 new base stations under an accelerated procedure, which will significantly simplify the process of obtaining permits for their placement. The Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov noted that this is an important step for the development of telecommunications networks, especially in frontline areas where stable communication is critically important for residents.
In May, the government adopted resolution No. 555, which allowed operators to obtain permits for the placement of base stations in an average of 25 working days. Previously, this process took up to two years, which significantly complicated the expansion of the communication network. In the first six months of the new resolution's operation, about 100 permits have already been issued.
Development of Telecommunications Infrastructure
Sumy region became one of the first regions where base stations began to be constructed under the accelerated procedure. This is an important step, as Fedorov noted, the goal is for every Ukrainian to stay connected despite the challenges facing the country. Additionally, Kyivstar lost 30% of its network due to blackouts, highlighting the need for rapid recovery and development of telecommunications infrastructure.
With the new stations, it is planned to improve communication in the following areas:
- Ivano-Frankivsk
- Zhytomyr
- Vinnytsia
- Lviv
Ensuring reliable communication in Ukraine, especially in the context of military actions and energy crises, is a priority for the government and mobile operators. The increase in the number of base stations aims not only at improving mobile communication but also at supporting social stability in regions where communication is vital for everyday life. Quick responses to the communication needs of the population can significantly facilitate communication and access to information in challenging conditions.
