Visit of the Czech Foreign Minister to Ukraine
According to Главком: The new Czech Foreign Minister Petr Mačínka arrived in Ukraine, his train was delayed due to a night attack from Russia. After a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha, Mačínka announced his intention to visit a country that has been resisting Russian aggression for nearly twelve years.
The train with Mačínka arrived in Kyiv late. The delay occurred due to a nighttime shelling, when the Russian army attacked Kyiv with drones and missiles. The minister is accompanied on this trip by MP Filip Turek. In total, 42 trains were delayed due to the icing of the contact network.
Appointment and international support
Petr Mačínka was appointed as the Czech Foreign Minister on December 15, when President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel was forming a new government. The government also includes Deputy Prime Ministers Karel Havlíček, Alena Schillerová, and Jaromír Zuna. Minister Petr Mačínka's visit is an important step in strengthening relations between the Czech Republic and Ukraine, especially against the backdrop of the ongoing aggression from Russia. The Czech Republic actively supports Ukraine, and this visit demonstrates the willingness of the new Czech government to continue this policy. In conditions where international support is critically important for Ukraine, such visits can help further strengthen alliances and coordination of actions on the international stage.
