Pensions for children of deceased military personnel: who will receive 6000 hryvnias in 2025
In Ukraine, there are laws that provide some individuals with the right to increased pension payments, significantly exceeding the minimum amounts. In 2025, a monthly pension of at least 6,000 hryvnias is planned for the children of deceased soldiers, provided that the conditions laid down by law are met.
According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, these guarantees are provided in accordance with current laws and are part of the social protection mechanisms for military families.
Guarantee Mechanism: who, when, how to receive
Children of deceased (killed) soldiers have the right to a pension in case of loss of the breadwinner. If the child is studying full-time, the right to payment is retained until the age of 23. In addition to children, in certain cases, mother, father, wife, or husband of the deceased soldier may receive a pension.
Pension amounts
In case of death due to service or during the performance of duties, the payment is established by law as 70% of the deceased's monetary support (for one family member).
If the rights belong to two or more non-working family members, a rate of 50% is applied. But even in such cases, the law guarantees that the payment will not be less than 6,100 hryvnias for each child.
For other family members, a minimum of 7,800 hryvnias is established.
These norms apply regardless of insurance experience, even if the deceased soldier did not have sufficient experience, provided he died in service or due to injuries, illnesses related to service.
Alternative: social assistance
When a child or other family members do not receive a pension due to the loss of the breadwinner, they may be entitled to social assistance, calculated based on the minimum subsistence level.
100% of the minimum subsistence level - for one child;
120% - for two children;
150% - for three or more children.
These payments are a form of state support when pension rights are inactive.

Useful remarks and advice
Even if the child or other family members did not live with the military or were not under his care, the right to a pension remains for non-working individuals.
All legal statuses - adopted children, stepchildren, stepfather or stepmother - may have the right to payments under certain conditions.
Early retirement can be received by the mother or wife (husband) of the deceased after reaching the age of 50 with at least 20 years of insurance experience.
If there are several individuals claiming the payment, the PFU may individually adjust the amount of the pension for each.
Although the legislation is already clear, difficulties may arise in practice with the registration or confirmation of the right to receive. It is advisable to contact a legal adviser or a PFU representative to ensure that all documents are correctly and timely processed.
Anyone who has lost a breadwinner - a military serviceman may have the right to pension or social support under current legislation. A detailed instruction on how to apply for payments will help families faster and more efficiently utilize these rights.
