Pensioners in Ukraine Exempt from Digitizing Work Records, PFU Clarifies

Pensioners do not need to digitize employment records: explanation from the PFU
Люди похилого віку в Україні звільнені від обов'язку оцифровувати трудові книжки, пояснює Пенсійний фонд.

Digitization of Work Records for Pensioners

According to ХВИЛЯ: Retirees who are already receiving a pension do not need to digitize their paper work record books. The Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU) has confirmed that all information regarding their employment history was recorded in its registry at the time their pension was initially granted. This reform is part of a broader digital transformation of Ukraine's public services. Consequently, pensioners can be assured that their employment data requires no further processing or verification.

The work history data for current pensioners was entered into the insured persons' registry when the individual applied for their pension, which occurred before the reform's implementation in 2021. Oleksandr Maletskyi stated:

“People who are already pensioners do not need to digitize their work record book because the information from it was already digitized when the person applied for a pension.”

This also applies to periods of employment after June 10, 2021, which are automatically recorded based on employers' reports, requiring no action from the pensioners themselves.

Guidance for Retirees

If a retiree began working after June 10, 2021, information about these periods is already in the registry and likewise does not require digitization.

“If a person started their employment after this date, then in fact information about these periods is already in the registry. It also does not need to be digitized,”

Maletskyi emphasized.

Nevertheless, pensioners are advised to review their data in the electronic cabinet on the PFU's e-services portal. Should the registry lack sufficient data, an individual has the option to contact a PFU service center to clarify the information. It is important to note that this exemption from digitization does not apply if a pensioner discovers a missing period and wishes to add it to their record. This process ensures information accuracy and guarantees that all work achievements are accounted for.

This policy highlights the convenience and efficiency of innovations within Ukraine's pension system, designed to simplify procedures for retirees. The automation of work history data collection and processing helps avoid unnecessary bureaucratic steps, which can positively impact citizen service. However, it remains crucial for pensioners to stay vigilant about their registry data and to verify or correct it in a timely manner if needed.

For those pensioners who may still have questions about their work records, it's essential to understand the straightforward process of digitizing employment history in a single visit to the Pension Fund. This option is particularly relevant for retirees who began working after the implementation of the new regulations, ensuring their data is accurately reflected in the registry without unnecessary complications.
