First Equipment Delivered to 'Drone Lines' Units Under New Procurement System
Integrating 'Drone Lines' Units into the DOT-Chain Defence System
According to Главком: The 'Drone Lines' units have officially joined the DOT-Chain Defence procurement system, enabling them to receive their initial batches of equipment in under two weeks of operation. Ukraine's Ministry of Defense allocated a dedicated budget to support these units through the marketplace. Total orders placed amounted to 184.8 million UAH, with equipment worth 40.8 million UAH already handed over to soldiers.
The Defense Procurement Agency (DOT) uses the DOT-Chain system to manage the full technological cycle, which covers:
- selection and ordering;
- contracting;
- logistics.
During the selection process, combat brigades can view available offers and choose what they need. The system automates contract signing and payments to manufacturers, while also tracking the entire delivery route to the end user on the front lines. Thanks to these measures, the 'Drone Lines' units destroy one out of every four targets on the battlefield each month.
Testing New FPV Drones
Additionally, the Ministry of Defense, together with the company Brave1, tested a new generation of attack FPV drones from eight Ukrainian manufacturers at a training ground. During the trials, the drones covered distances of up to 25 km and struck targets while facing various types of electronic warfare (EW) interference.
As Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov stated, 'Our task is to scale this approach to strengthen front-line defense and systematically increase enemy losses on the ground.'
Integrating the 'Drone Lines' units into the DOT-Chain Defence system marks a critical step in enhancing the efficiency of defense procurement in Ukraine. By automating purchasing and logistics processes, Ukrainian troops can respond more quickly and effectively to frontline needs. The recent tests of new FPV drones further underscore the Ministry of Defense's efforts to deploy innovative technologies that improve the combat capabilities of Ukrainian forces.
In addition to the rapid integration of the 'Drone Lines' units into the procurement system, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has introduced a new advance payment initiative for drone manufacturers. This allows for up to 70% prepayment, significantly improving the financial flexibility for suppliers and accelerating production timelines.
