New Measures to Back Ukraine’s Military Personnel

According to ХВИЛЯ: Lawmaker Oleksandr Fedienko has outlined several key initiatives currently under discussion to support Ukrainian service members. A central proposal involves raising salaries for infantry and assault units to as much as $7,000. In addition, parliament has approved a 45-billion-euro package to fund military operations. Fedienko stressed the significance of this financial commitment, stating:

“In short, the funding for our troops will be there.” - Oleksandr Fedienko

Beyond direct pay increases, the plan includes forming reserve battalions (known as BREZ) to bolster national defense. Another major shift would transfer the cost of volunteer-supplied Starlink terminals to the Ministry of Defense, ensuring reliable communications for soldiers. Fedienko commented on the overdue nature of this change, noting:

“This should have been done a long time ago.” - Oleksandr Fedienko

Military System Reforms on the Horizon

Regarding broader military reforms, Fedienko announced that an overhaul of territorial recruitment centers (TCCs) is expected around July or August. The goal is to improve how these centers operate. Additionally, the military law enforcement service (VSP) would gain investigative authority. Fedienko expressed confidence that the Ministry of Defense will find effective ways to implement these changes.

These efforts are part of Ukraine’s broader strategy to strengthen its armed forces amid ongoing conflict. Higher salaries and dedicated funding aim to boost professionalism and attract new recruits, while reforming recruitment centers and creating reserve units signal a push for a more efficient and responsive military structure.

In addition to salary increases, Ukraine is also implementing structured service terms for contract soldiers, which aims to enhance military stability and commitment. This initiative reflects a broader effort to modernize the armed forces and ensure that personnel are well-supported.
