Poland has strengthened rules for Ukrainians at the border: new insurance and financial requirements

Crossing the border with Poland: new rules
Польща посилила контроль на кордоні для українців: введено нові вимоги щодо страхування та фінансів.

The Border Guard of Poland has established new requirements for Ukrainians planning to travel to the neighboring EU country. One of the most significant is mandatory medical insurance of at least 30,000 euros. Now, every Ukrainian intending to travel to Poland must have insurance that covers all medical expenses, including emergency treatment and return home.

Financial requirements have also increased: for a short trip of up to 4 days, Ukrainians need to have 300 zlotys with them, or 75 zlotys for each day of a longer stay. Additionally, they must have 500 zlotys for the return home. The control over compliance with the '90 days in 180 days period' rule has also been strengthened, which is particularly important for Ukrainians who often visit Poland for work or business trips.

'For Ukrainian labor migrants, documents stating the purpose of the trip have become mandatory.'

Students from Ukraine studying at Polish universities are exempt from the requirement to have work permits but must confirm their status with a diploma of full-time education.

'Ukrainians may be denied entry if they exceed the 90-day stay limit in Schengen, lack the necessary insurance, have insufficient financial means, or are suspected of document forgery.'

It is also important to remember the new rules for crossing the border by bus and the specifics of passing through checkpoints.

Poland has introduced new requirements for Ukrainian citizens planning a trip to the country: mandatory medical insurance of at least 30,000 euros, increased financial requirements, and control over the duration of stay in the Schengen zone. Additionally, students from Ukraine studying in Poland must have confirmation of their status.
