Police and Border Guard Officers Take Part in Horse Therapy Initiated by Ministry Psychologists
Equine-Assisted Therapy Session for Law Enforcement Personnel
According to МВС: Psychologists from Ukraine’s Ministry of Internal Affairs organized a therapeutic horseback riding event for officers of the State Border Guard Service and the National Police at a horse farm. This session was held as part of the nationwide mental health initiative 'How Are You?', which was launched by Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska. The program aims to address the growing psychological needs of service members amid the ongoing war.
Participants had the chance to ride horses, feed them, and engage in conversations with psychologists. A unique element of the event involved animals that had been evacuated from frontline areas, which also took part in the activities. Through equine therapy, MVS psychologists help police officers and border guards recover, highlighting the critical role of such interventions in maintaining their mental well-being.
The Critical Role of Mental Health Support
This initiative underscores the importance of prioritizing mental health for military and law enforcement personnel during these challenging times. As a rehabilitation method, horse therapy not only aids psychological recovery but also fosters an emotional bond between humans and animals, which can positively influence participants’ overall state of mind.
The 'How Are You?' program continues to expand, reflecting a growing emphasis on mental health awareness across Ukraine.
In addition to the therapeutic horseback riding sessions, the 'How Are You?' initiative encompasses various creative projects aimed at supporting those in service. For instance, young artists from the Kherson region are crafting unique gifts for rescuers, showcasing the community's dedication to mental well-being and solidarity.
