Traveler Reveals a Secret Paris Route That Avoids Tourist Crowds
Traveler Amelia Nith Shares Her Experience on the Uncommon Paris Tour
According to УНІАН — Туризм: Traveler Amelia Nith has opened up about her journey on the Uncommon Paris tour, organized by Intrepid Travel. Designed to explore lesser-known neighborhoods like Passy, this tour helps visitors steer clear of large tourist crowds. The two-hour excursion begins at the Musée de l’Homme on the Trocadéro esplanade and costs from £47.50 per person.
The tour guide and route designer, Cecilia García Riglos, led the group through a series of fascinating locations. Among the stops were:
- The Trocadéro Gardens, where remnants of monuments from the Paris Commune of 1871 can still be seen;
- Passy Cemetery, a resting place for 19th-century French aristocrats and artists, including the famous composer Claude Debussy.
Amelia Nith noted that
“we then headed to what is called the 'silent neighbor' of the Eiffel Tower-Passy Cemetery. From there, you get a stunning view of the landmark across the Seine, and best of all, without the tourist crowds, which allowed me to take photos in peace.”
The group also visited the covered Passy market, where they enjoyed delicious pastries at Golosa Patisserie, and had coffee and crepes at Chez Marie-Do. As Amelia remarked,
“we stopped at the covered Passy market, where we tasted incredibly buttery pastries at Golosa Patisserie-something between a croissant and a brioche. Despite that, I still found room for a crepe and coffee at Chez Marie-Do.”
The inner garden of Maison de Balzac, the former home of Honoré de Balzac, was one of the group’s final stops. This garden is free for visitors to enter.
During the walk along Passy’s old cobblestone streets, the group also visited Passy Park and crossed the Bir-Hakeim Bridge, which features two levels: one for trains and one for cars. The tour limits group size to 12 participants, ensuring a comfortable atmosphere. Private tours are available for a minimum of two people. The tour price includes:
- a walking tour;
- entry to Passy Cemetery;
- pastry tasting and coffee.
Amelia Nith emphasized the importance of supporting local communities while traveling. She said:
“While some might see a lock as part of a special moment during a trip, it actually creates extra problems for the local community, who have to clean it all up. This reminded me how important it is for tourists to leave a positive mark on the places where they create their memories.”
