Passengers can be removed from the flight not only for passport or booking issues, but also for trivial violations on board – from alcohol to vaping, which can result in fines in the thousands of euros or even arrest after landing. This is reported by Daily Express.

Airlines tighten fines for passengers for bad behavior

Experts warn: such incidents not only ruin plans but also cost dearly – from 500 euros at Ryanair for "inappropriate behavior" to criminal cases for smoking.

Since June 2025, the low-cost airline introduced a fixed fine of 500 euros (about 22 thousand UAH) for removal from the flight, while EasyJet and Wizz Air have intensified checks. In Turkey, fines for impatience on board have been introduced since May, and in Europe – up to 15 thousand euros if the route has to be changed due to a drunken passenger.

Top-4 violations that most often lead to punishments:

  1. Excessive alcohol: the tradition of "getting wild" at the airport can cost removal and fines up to 15 thousand euros at Ryanair – the company changes course if someone behaves aggressively;
  2. Smoking on board: the ban is strict due to fire hazards, fine up to 5000 euros plus criminal charges after landing;
  3. Ignoring safety instructions: not buckling up when signaled – the flight attendant will detain you, the pilot may return to the airport, possible arrest by police;
  4. Vaping in the cabin: British Airways or Wizz Air – ban, fine 500–1000 euros, prohibition on future flights and police involvement.

Flight attendants have the right to document and detain, while pilots can return the flight if safety is at risk.

"We have implemented a fine of 500 euros that will be imposed on all passengers who are removed from the aircraft due to their inappropriate behavior," – said Ryanair.

Experts advise reading the rules before flying, as fines not only hit the wallet. A flight can be canceled, and then the vacation will be ruined.

Earlier we reported that airlines fine passengers for sandwiches.
