Trolleybus fare in Ukraine: where public transport is cheaper
In Ukraine, trolleybus fares are increasing in 2025 due to inflation, rising electricity costs, and changes in the transport policy of cities. In different regions, prices vary from 8 to 12 hryvnias for a single trip, and in Kharkiv, the fare may reach 11 hryvnias due to local taxes. This was reported by the publication Informator.
Key factors influencing the ticket price for trolleybuses
The fare is formed taking into account several factors:
-
Economic costs: inflation adds 1-2 hryvnias to the fare annually due to rising prices for electricity, fuel for auxiliary systems, and employee wages.
-
Subsidies: in many cities, the state compensates part of the costs, allowing prices to remain lower than those of minibuses.
-
Local features: in cities with developed networks, like Kharkiv or Lviv, fares may be higher due to additional taxes or infrastructure costs.
Where in Ukraine is the cheapest trolleybus ticket
In 2025, passengers have several payment options:

Download the city mobile app for convenient balance management and to avoid fines.
-
Keep an eye on promotions, especially on holidays when cities offer discounts.

We remind you that starting from January 1, 2026, a decree by the Ministry of Community Development comes into effect on a unified ticket format for public transport. Electronic tickets will be able to be obtained via QR code, email, or app, with luggage receipts provided for suburban routes. These changes will simplify the payment process and make the transport system more convenient.
