Turkish printer created an oasis on the balcony: how to grow a garden in bottles
A 63-year-old printing house owner in the Turkish city of Eskisehir, Salim Pektash, has real vegetable beds growing on the roof of his office! He uses 200 plastic bottles to grow tomatoes, peppers, beans, and eggplants. The owner spends about 8 hours a day in his green corner to relax and relieve stress.
«This is my way of relaxation and rest. Someone goes fishing, and I grow vegetables,» Pektash says.
The man is proud that up to 90% of the necessary vegetables he gets from his own beds. But he is not only engaged in this - Pektash takes great care of his plants and even communicates with them as if they were his children.
«Sometimes I talk to them as if they were my children. I say: «You are beautiful, growing so nicely»».
To irrigate the plants, Pektash uses a manual pump to pump water into the bottles. This interesting hobby attracts the attention of many passersby. His garden has inspired others, like two brothers in Izmir who transformed their yard into a real garden over thirty years. These stories show how people can find joy in agriculture right in the city.
In this interesting news, we learned about Salim Pektash, who decided to grow vegetables on the roof of his office in plastic bottles. He not only provides himself with fresh vegetables but also takes a break from work by taking care of his mini-garden.
