Trolleys are back in Kherson: which routes are operational on May 12
In Kherson, after a week-long halt, trolleybus services have been resumed. Electric transport returned to the routes after the security situation deteriorated and Russian troops attacked the city's transport infrastructure. This was reported by the Kherson City Council .
Trolleybuses No. 4 and No. 8 are back in Kherson
The operation of electric transport in the city was temporarily suspended from May 4 due to intensified Russian shelling. During this time, the occupiers repeatedly attacked public transport and the trolleybus depot.
Yaroslav Shanko, the head of the Kherson Military Administration, reported that it was possible to restore the operation of two trolleybus routes:
- trolleybus No. 4;
- trolleybus No. 8.
According to him, it is currently impossible to fully restore electric transport due to repairs of the contact network in the Central and Koral stations of the city.

The city seeks ways to secure transport
In recent weeks, Russian troops have intensified attacks on buses and minibuses in Kherson. The head of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, previously stated that the city does not plan to completely stop transportation despite the threats.
According to him, authorities are working on solutions that will help reduce risks for passengers and drivers while maintaining public transport operations.
Since the de-occupation of Kherson, the city’s transport system has regularly suffered damage due to shelling and attacks by Russian troops. As a result, public transport operations often have to be temporarily modified or limited.
For Kherson residents, the restoration of at least some trolleybus routes means the return of more accessible transport and a partial stabilization of city transportation.
It should be noted that the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, made a working trip to Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. The main topics of the visit were the protection of logistics and critical infrastructure, preparation for winter, and supporting doctors, entrepreneurs, and farmers.
