In Lviv, carriers have been threatened with fines and bans on deploying vehicles on routes if their air conditioning units are not functioning. This decision was made by the city authorities after numerous complaints from passengers about unbearable heat in the buses. From now on, comfortable transportation conditions during the summer are mandatory requirements for carriers. This was reported by the Lviv City Council.

Lviv has begun checking the operation of air conditioning in transport

Due to the rise in air temperature and complaints from residents, the city council has intensified control over the state of public transport.

Inspectors are checking buses directly on the routes and recording cases when air conditioning either does not work or is deliberately turned off by drivers.

The city hall emphasizes that the responsibility for maintaining the proper temperature in the cabin lies with the carrier, and the heat should not turn trips into a trial for passengers.

In just one day, violations were recorded on routes No. 23, No. 51, No. 53, and No. 84.

What punishment threatens carriers

For identified violations, carriers can receive a fine of 1700 hryvnias.

The city authorities also urged Lviv residents to report cases when the air conditioning in the cabin is not working or when it is impossible to open windows for ventilation in the bus.

Control is planned to be conducted throughout the entire summer season, especially during periods of abnormal heat.

A new comfortable transport has appeared in Lviv region

Along with the tightening of requirements for bus transportation on suburban routes in the Lviv region, modern PESA rail buses have started operating.

The new rolling stock runs on the routes of Starjava - Sambir, Nizankovichi - Sambir, Khodoriv - Lviv, Sambir - Stryi, and Stryi - Ivano-Frankivsk.

The rail buses are equipped with air conditioning, heating systems, modern toilets, sockets, USB ports, and places for passengers with disabilities.

The city authorities emphasize that raising the standards of comfort and accessibility of public transport remains one of the priorities of the region's transportation policy.

It is worth recalling that a square named after Andriy Parubiy was opened in Lviv.
