Two Ukrainians Killed in Car Crash in Poland
Deadly Collision on Polish Road
According to Главком: A tragic road accident in Poland claimed the lives of two Ukrainian citizens-a 20-year-old woman and a 22-year-old man. The crash occurred on Thursday, May 7, around 3:00 PM in the town of Porazyn, located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. The Volkswagen Passat driven by the 22-year-old Ukrainian man crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a truck.
Notably, the driver of the car was subject to an active court-ordered driving ban. This incident is not an isolated case:
- In April, near the town of Lancut in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, a bus struck a barrier and overturned. The vehicle was carrying six Ukrainian nationals, including five adults and a nine-year-old girl.
- At the end of December last year, in the town of Zielenciny near Brzeg, six people died in a road accident, five of whom were Ukrainian citizens.
- Also in December, near Lublin, a bus carrying 26 Ukrainian citizens was involved in an incident on Route 17 in the village of Kolonia-Siedliszczki.
Growing Road Safety Concerns
These events highlight the increasing risks faced by Ukrainians living or traveling in Poland. This latest tragedy is part of a broader road safety problem in the country, where Ukrainian workers and residents frequently fall victim to traffic accidents. The incidents underscore the urgent need for greater awareness of traffic laws and safety measures, as well as stricter enforcement of driving regulations, including bans.
Ukrainian citizens abroad are urged to exercise heightened caution, especially given the rising dangers on Polish roads.
As road safety continues to be a pressing issue, recent incidents have also occurred in Ukraine, where tragic accidents have led to significant loss of life, including a 17-year-old motorcyclist and a young child. These events underline the urgent need for improved traffic regulations and heightened awareness among drivers.
