72-Year-Old Man Detained in Rivne Region for Alleged Murder of Five IDPs

According to Главком: Police in Ukraine's Rivne region have detained a 72-year-old man, originally from the Donetsk region, on suspicion of murdering five people. The incident occurred on February 10 at approximately 4:10 AM in the village of Sudobychi, where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were sheltering in a school. The tragedy stemmed from a domestic dispute between the suspect and other residents.
During the altercation, the man attacked five individuals with a hammer and an axe. All five victims died from their injuries. The deceased are:
- A 60-year-old man
- A 68-year-old man
- An 81-year-old woman
- A 78-year-old woman
- A 56-year-old woman originally from the Kirovohrad region
A social worker alerted the police at 4:15 AM.
Patrol officers arrested the alleged attacker at the scene. Authorities are now deciding on formal charges and a pre-trial detention measure. According to the National Police, a conflict between the 72-year-old suspect and other residents escalated into a violent fight with fatal consequences.
