Ukraine prepares a Veterans Code: who will benefit after the war
Veterans Code in Ukraine
Ukraine is preparing a Veterans Code that will take into account the needs of about 5-6 million veterans and their families after the war ends. This was announced by Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. According to her, the veterans' policy should be organically integrated into all spheres of life to ensure effective state support for veterans and their families.
The Ukrainian government has taken into account proposals in the draft Veterans Code, which will be submitted to the parliament. The Ministry of Veterans Affairs plans to hold discussions with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Economy regarding proposals in the areas of health and employment. Among other initiatives, the government also plans to provide veterans with disabilities access to driving tests.
Government's goal and support for veterans
Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the government's goal is to create conditions under which every veteran, every veteran woman, and their families would feel real support in healthcare, education, employment, social services, and everyday life.
To implement these plans, the following organizations are actively working in Ukraine:
- Charity Fund 'Veteran Hub'
- NGO 'Principle'
- NGO 'Space of Opportunities'
- NGO 'Legal Hundred'
The development of the Veterans Code is an important step in supporting veterans who need special attention and resources after the war ends. Integrating veterans' policy into all areas of life will create better conditions for veterans' adaptation to civilian life and improve their social status. Involving various ministries and civil organizations in this process indicates a comprehensive approach to solving the problems of veterans in Ukraine.
