Ukraine and the IMF agreed on $8.1 billion: what the money will be spent on
According to Міністерство інфраструктури: Ukraine and the IMF have agreed on a new funding program. This program is designed for four years and provides for support of 8.1 billion US dollars.
The Ministry of Development team has been working with the IMF for a year. They held meetings during the annual meetings in Washington and under the leadership of the IMF mission in Kyiv.
“The agreement with the IMF means not only financial support but also qualitative structural changes. The main priority of this program for us is the reform of public investment management. This will help effectively manage recovery projects, ensure investor confidence, and successful Euro-integration of Ukraine”
noted Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba.
Key provisions of the program and financial assistance
One of the central aspects of the new program is the implementation of the reform of public investment management. Also in focus are fiscal sustainability, the de-shadowing of the economy, improving corporate governance, and Euro-integration to support the country's economic recovery.
The final approval of the program by the IMF Executive Board is expected after fulfilling the preliminary conditions and obtaining financial guarantees from donors.
