Ukraine to ban the Russian language in private schools: what led to the decision
Ban on the Russian language in private schools in Ukraine
According to Главком: Ukraine plans to ban the Russian language in private schools. This decision comes as a result of a scandal surrounding an illegal school located on the territory of the Holy Protection Male Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) in Kyiv. To implement this initiative, Draft Law No. 14361 has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
According to the new proposals, the ban on the aggressor country's language will only apply to private educational institutions. This means that such institutions will not record the use of the Russian language in the educational process. An important point is that the ban on the Russian language has already been applied earlier to kindergartens, which indicates consistency in the state's policy regarding language issues.
Verification of the underground school's activities
In addition, the Security Service of Ukraine has begun checking the activities of the underground school, which has become a catalyst for discussing the ban on the Russian language in private schools. This decision underscores the intentions of the Ukrainian government in combating the influence of the aggressor country on the educational process in Ukraine.
The introduction of the ban on the Russian language in private schools is part of a broader strategy by the Ukrainian government to reduce the influence of Russian culture and language in the country following the start of the war. It also reflects growing nationalist sentiments in society that strive to preserve Ukrainian identity. In the context of the ongoing conflict, such decisions may contribute to further consolidation of society around the Ukrainian language and culture.
