Fire Point’s Strategic Roadmap

According to Главком: Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point expects to take delivery of its first interceptor missiles for an air defense system before the end of 2026. The company has already signed a contract with a European manufacturer to supply an infrared seeker head and is currently in talks with another firm regarding a radio-frequency seeker. As part of its collaboration with Munich-based Hensoldt, a memorandum has been signed under which Hensoldt will provide the TRML-4D radar for the Freya air defense system.

Testing Milestones and Investment Shift

This summer, Fire Point plans to begin flight testing its FP-9 ballistic missile, with combat trials expected in the fall. The FP-9 carries an 800-kilogram warhead and can reach targets up to 850 kilometers away. Just last week, the company conducted the first test of its FP-7.X interceptor missile, which can achieve speeds between 1,500 and 2,000 meters per second.

Notably, negotiations with a Middle Eastern investor to sell a 30% stake for $760 million have been discontinued. Fire Point’s valuation has now surpassed that offer, with an international investment bank pegging the company at $5.8 billion. Co-founder and chief designer Denys Shtilerman commented:

“How many months would you have to spend in Europe? Possibly six months to a year. We need one day.” - Denys Shtilerman

He added: “If, for example, every European government starts acting quickly, we could begin work with interceptors before the end of this year.”

Fire Point is actively involved in a missile defense initiative that also includes President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Digital Transformation Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who have signed an agreement with Germany to jointly develop the program.

The growth of Ukraine’s domestic defense industry-especially in air defense-is critical amid modern threats. Successful deployment of new technologies and partnerships with European allies can bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities and provide essential tools to counter potential attacks. The Fire Point project demonstrates that Ukrainian companies can compete internationally, attracting substantial investment and advanced technology for their products.

As Ukraine enhances its defense capabilities, the integration of advanced radar systems plays a crucial role. The recent collaboration with German manufacturers has significantly bolstered the effectiveness of the Freyja anti-ballistic shield, ensuring a more robust shield against potential threats.
