According to Главком: The 79th Cannes Film Festival drew cinema enthusiasts from across the globe. Among those walking the photocall was actress and volunteer Anastasiia Pustovit. The festival also featured the film 'Spring', directed by Rostyslav Kyrypchenko and co-produced by Lithuania and France. This movie was selected for the official program under the 'Special Screenings' section, exploring events in Ukraine's temporarily occupied regions.

At the photocall, Pustovit was joined by Lithuanian actor Kastytis Cicėnas, who plays the lead role in 'Spring'. The story centers on Andrii, a 35-year-old priest portrayed by Cicėnas. In the film, the priest aids families of the deceased whose bodies remain in occupied areas, highlighting the poignant themes the movie addresses.

Ukrainian Artists' Achievements

Additionally, Ukrainian director Zhanna Ozirna won the Build Your Dream award at Cannes for her debut feature film 'Honeymoon'. The movie chronicles the first days of the full-scale invasion. Ozirna received $46,000 along with the prize, underscoring international recognition of her work.

The 79th Cannes Film Festival served as a key platform for showcasing Ukrainian cinema, particularly through 'Spring' and Ozirna's success.

This event not only draws attention to Ukrainian films but also underscores their relevance amid current events. The screening of 'Spring' and the achievements of Ukrainian artists highlight the country's growing role in global cinema, as such projects help spotlight critical social issues and challenges Ukraine faces.

The spotlight on Ukrainian cinema at the festival reflects a broader trend in the industry, as seen in how the festival opened with Jane Fonda as a prominent figure.
