Hundreds of Ukrainian Veterans Receive Free Bionic Prosthetics from Tech Firm
Free Bionic Prosthetics for Veterans
According to ХВИЛЯ: Hundreds of Ukrainian military veterans have now received advanced bionic prosthetics at no cost, thanks to an initiative by IT entrepreneur Serhiy Bondarenko and his company, Skywell. The tech firm, which Bondarenko founded, specializes in developing bionic upper-limb prosthetics. This effort is part of a broader wave of Ukrainian civil society and business mobilizing to support those injured in the ongoing conflict. Currently, Skywell offers a prosthetic arm up to the elbow, with a model extending to the shoulder slated for release soon.
Bondarenko confirmed that all prosthetics for veterans are provided free of charge.
“For veterans, all these prosthetics are free,”
he stated. He also noted the company's progress, saying,
“For now, there are limitations; it's only the arm up to the elbow, but soon an arm up to the shoulder will also be available.”
Despite the challenges, Bondarenko reported significant success:
“We managed anyway, we made a pretty good product. We have already fitted, I don't know, hundreds of veterans.”
Skywell is thus actively expanding its product line to support veterans.
The Significance of Skywell's Initiative
Skywell's project represents a crucial step in aiding veterans who have suffered injuries in combat. These free, sophisticated bionic limbs can dramatically improve veterans' quality of life by restoring their capacity for active daily living. In the context of war and significant social challenges, such initiatives can serve as a model for other companies seeking to contribute to society and support those in need.
