Ukraine Announces New Child Support Payments Effective 2026
New State Assistance Programs in Ukraine
According to Міністерство соц. політики: Ukraine's First Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Lyudmyla Shemelynets, has announced that new types of state assistance for families with children will be introduced starting January 1, 2026. These reforms, part of a broader effort to strengthen the social safety net, also include an increase in the one-time payment for childbirth, which will rise to 50,000 hryvnias.
Support for Pregnant Women and Families
The new measures include prenatal support of 7,000 hryvnias for uninsured pregnant women. Some of the new child payments have already been calculated and disbursed. Families can apply for these benefits through several channels:
- Service centers of the Pension Fund of Ukraine,
- Administrative Service Centers (ASCs),
- Authorized representatives of territorial communities.
Under the new regulations, the monthly childcare allowance for a child under one year will be 7,000 hryvnias, while families raising a child with a disability will receive 10,500 hryvnias. Furthermore, the 'eYasla' program, which supports working parents, will provide 8,000 hryvnias monthly, increasing to 12,000 hryvnias for families with children with disabilities.
'We are improving the social system so that it meets the real needs of families,' noted Lyudmyla Shemelynets.
These new payments are designed to significantly ease the financial burden on Ukrainian families. This expansion of family benefits reflects a growing focus on social policy during a challenging economic period, aiming to support birth rates and social stability. The initiatives notably address the needs of families with children with disabilities, highlighting a move toward greater inclusivity in state social programs.
