Medic of Maidan at the Zaporizhia front: how the Revolution of Dignity brought a doctor to the front
Лікар з Майдану на Запорізькому фронті: як події Революції Гідності змінили життя медичного працівника.

Oleksandr Daniliuk, one of the medics of the Revolution of Dignity, recounted that during the events on Maidan, he provided assistance to activists in need of medical help. Starting with minor injuries, he eventually transitioned to working with combat wounds, like a real military doctor.

In November 2013, peaceful protests began in Ukraine, changing the political course of the country. Oleksandr joined the protest in his city, but after hearing about the attack on students in Kyiv, he headed to Maidan, where the Revolution of Dignity began.

“We helped at the barricades, treated the wounded, washed eyes from chemical substances. The hardest day was February 20, when we were working in the 'Cheburek' and could not save four Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.”

After Maidan, Oleksandr returned to his hometown, but later joined an army brigade. He participated in battles in eastern Ukraine and returned to help reform the emergency medical service.

The Revolution of Dignity and the legacy of its feats

According to Oleksandr, the Revolution of Dignity was the beginning of the defense of dignity and freedom. He emphasizes that this was the moment when civic consciousness was born, although the real struggle for dignity continues to this day.
