President Meets with Intelligence Chief

According to Главком: On March 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a report from Oleg Ivashchenko, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR). Their discussion centered on Russia's intentions to exploit the situation around Iran and the delay of American military aid. Zelenskyy directed the intelligence service to intensify its focus on disrupting Russian military production. This meeting underscores Ukraine's proactive efforts to counter Russian strategy on multiple fronts.

According to GUR data, Russian combat losses consist of 62% killed and 38% wounded. Classified reports indicate that Russia assesses its own irreversible losses-killed and seriously wounded-at 1,315,000 personnel. President Zelenskyy noted that critical documents obtained by intelligence confirm this shift in the ratio of Russian casualties.

“Our intelligence has acquired important documents regarding Russia's own assessment of its battlefield losses. Specifically, a change in the ratio of killed to wounded Russian soldiers has been recorded.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

Risks of a Prolonged War and Consequences

Zelenskyy also stated that Russia's primary calculation is to heighten the risks of a prolonged war in the Middle East and the Gulf region. This aims to significantly reduce global pressure on Russia for its war against Ukraine, escape sanctions from partners, and gain additional resources through fluctuations in oil and gas prices.

“There is information about Russian intentions to push for a complete lifting of energy sanctions. We are determining our countermeasures and will inform our partners.” – Volodymyr Zelenskyy

It was further noted that in 2025, Russia began losing more soldiers than it can recruit. This data points to severe problems within the Russian army and underscores the need for continued monitoring of the situation.

The discussion between President Zelenskyy and the GUR chief highlights the ongoing importance of analyzing Russian military actions and their impact on global politics, particularly concerning the Middle East. The mounting losses of the Russian army may indicate significant difficulties in sustaining its war effort, which could influence international strategies for supporting Ukraine. These developments are critical as the frontline situation remains dynamic and unpredictable.
