Three months after the loud anti-corruption scandal surrounding Energoatom, no real systemic changes have occurred. This was stated by people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak after another meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada. According to him, the government's pace of action remains extremely low, and key issues are still unresolved.

As a result of the TSC meeting, the parliamentarian noted that most officials involved in the scandal are formally suspended but not dismissed. Official investigations are dragging on, and final decisions in Energoatom are promised to be made only at the end of February. Meanwhile, competitions for key positions and contract approvals, which the government promised to conduct in a timely manner, have not taken place.

The situation in Energoatom after the scandal

Zheleznyak emphasized that the supervisory board was formally appointed only the day before the TSC meeting, although this was announced back in autumn. At the same time, its full-fledged work has not yet begun, and the board's composition, according to the deputy's assessment, is unlikely to ensure deep changes. A similar situation exists with other state enterprises, which, according to the parliamentarian, remain under the influence of the same individuals.

Consequences for the state and budget

Separately, the deputy pointed out the history of Energoatom's auctions and the so-called 'barrier' scheme, which allowed delaying payments to contractors. Despite public resonance, the mechanism continued to operate for months. According to Zheleznyak, the state may have already lost at least 1 billion UAH, and recovering these funds will be extremely difficult even within the framework of criminal proceedings.

  • some traders refused to participate in dubious schemes after the publicity
  • key regulators did not appear at TSC meetings
  • decisions were made with delays, already after the scandal

In the end, according to Zheleznyak, no one has been held accountable for inaction, and the same influential groups benefited from the delays in processes. The deputy stated that the work of the TSC and parliamentary pressure will continue, particularly regarding the dismantling of corrupt mechanisms and reloading management in the energy sector.

Earlier, Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported on the reservation from mobilization of media figures Volodymyr Petrov and Serhii Ivanov.
