Fuel Cashback Program
According to Кабмін: Launched on March 20, the fuel cashback initiative has already drawn 2 million participants across Ukraine. In total, more than 4.5 million citizens have signed up for the broader 'National Cashback' program. The vast majority of participants are owners of mass-market cars, with over 91% driving vehicles that are typically between 10 and 20 years old.
Popular Car Models and How Rebates Are Used
The most common car models among participants include:
- Volkswagen
- Renault
- Skoda
- Ford
- Daewoo
- VAZ
More than 80% of participants drive cars with engines under 2.5 liters. The state provides up to 1,000 hryvnias in monthly compensation, with rates varying by fuel type:
- 15% - for diesel
- 10% - for gasoline
- 5% - for gas
On average, Ukrainians allocate about 70% of their cashback to paying utility bills. The funds can also be spent on medicine, books, Ukrainian-made goods, and postal services.
The 'National Cashback' program is having a notable impact on the economy by helping sustain consumer spending during a difficult period. Since most participants use the rebate to cover utility costs, it may ease the financial burden on households. Additionally, the program encourages the purchase of domestically produced items, potentially boosting the national economy and supporting local businesses.
