According to glavcom.ua: Today, October 19, the Orthodox Church commemorates the memory of the holy prophet Joel, who called the people to repentance and predicted the sending of the Holy Spirit. This is one of the many religious holidays that the church celebrates.
Joel prophesied about the punishments for sins, but at the same time he promised God's mercy for those who sincerely repent. His predictions about the sending of the Holy Spirit came true on Pentecost, and he also foretold the terrible judgment and salvation for the righteous.
