White House Blunder: Belgium Listed Instead of Belarus on Trump's Peace Council Roster
White House Error in Peace Council Announcement
According to Главком: The White House released a list of nations that had joined a Peace Council established by U.S. President Donald Trump, but committed a significant diplomatic error by naming Belgium instead of Belarus. The Belgian government swiftly issued a denial, confirming the country had not signed any agreements related to this initiative. Belgian Foreign Minister Maxim Prévot stated,
"Belgium has NOT signed the Peace Council treaty. This announcement is false. We want a common and coordinated European response."
Formation of the Peace Council
The documents to create the Peace Council, led by Donald Trump, were signed during a ceremony in Davos. Representatives from fewer than 20 countries attended the event, including:
- The Prime Ministers of Hungary and Bulgaria
- Delegations from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, and Kosovo
According to the draft charter, Donald Trump will chair the Council for life, even if he is no longer U.S. President.
Trump's envisioned Peace Council is intended to focus on cementing peace in Gaza and overseeing its reconstruction. However, the signing ceremony was notably absent of leaders from most European Union nations, raising further questions about the initiative's regional support. This gaffe highlights the delicate nature of international diplomacy, where such errors can undermine credibility. The absence of key European backing casts doubt on the project's potential to effectively address regional conflicts, as it appears to lack broad consensus from the outset.
