Ukrainian State Customs Service Report for January 2026

According to Главком: The Ukrainian State Customs Service has released its operational results for January 2026. Customs payments transferred to the national budget for the month totaled UAH 56.2 billion. This figure represents a significant increase of UAH 8.8 billion compared to the same period last year. The growth was driven by a 20.4% rise in the volume of taxable imports, indicating a notable expansion in foreign economic activity. These figures provide a key early indicator of the country's economic resilience and trade dynamics.

Key Commodity Groups and Customs Duty Relief

The primary commodity groups generating budget revenue were:

  • Petroleum products – UAH 16.1 billion;
  • Passenger cars – UAH 4.2 billion;
  • Natural gas and petroleum gases – UAH 2 billion;
  • Electricity – UAH 1.3 billion;
  • Telephone sets – UAH 1 billion;

Other significant revenue-generating items included mineral fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, and data processing equipment.

In January 2026, the state granted customs duty relief totaling UAH 32.9 billion, which accounts for over 58% of potential total revenue. The volume of relief provided grew by UAH 12.1 billion, a 58.5% increase year-on-year. The distribution of this customs relief in January 2026 was as follows:

  • 48.8% (UAH 16 billion) was allocated to the defense sector;
  • 31.1% (UAH 10.2 billion) – to tobacco raw materials;
  • 6.9% (UAH 2.3 billion) – to energy infrastructure;
  • 7% (UAH 2.3 billion) – to free trade arrangements.

The surge in customs revenue for January 2026 suggests a recovery and intensification of economic activity in Ukraine, alongside growing import volumes. The substantial duty relief, particularly for the defense sector, likely reflects state priorities in addressing national security needs. These outcomes are expected to influence future government policy and strategic planning concerning foreign trade and customs regulation.
