Expert on winter power outages: there will be no complete blackout
According to hvylya.net: In an interview on Yuriy Romanenko's channel, expert Viktor Kurtev shared his thoughts on the consequences of the attacks and the readiness of the energy system to handle winter loads.
After the massive attack by Russia on Ukraine's energy infrastructure on October 10, the country enters the heating season with significantly less resilience than in previous years. Energy expert Viktor Kurtev forecasts 'strict schedules' for electricity outages, but believes that a complete blackout can be avoided.
The expert outlined the most pessimistic yet realistic scenario for the winter. He believes that Russia will continue to systematically disable all non-nuclear maneuverable generation, especially on the left bank of the Dnipro.
According to the expert, in the worst-case scenario, the backbone of Ukraine's energy supply in winter will be basic nuclear generation, and the energy system will have to be regulated by limiting electricity consumption.
Kurtev noted that the severity of outages will be uneven across the country, with cuts most likely on the left bank of Ukraine, which is deficient in electricity.
The expert emphasized that a particularly tense situation is unfolding on the left bank of Ukraine, where there are risks of electricity supply problems, especially in Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia.
Energy reserves in Ukraine are at a limit, but the expert warns about the possibility of strict electricity outages, especially on the left bank of Ukraine. This may lead to serious problems with electricity supply in the major industrial centers of the country.
