The electricity deficit in Russia has reached 25 GW: reasons for the crisis
The Ukrainian foreign intelligence service has found that Russia has begun to experience worsening electricity problems due to demand exceeding the capacity of power plants to meet consumer needs. In October this year, the electricity deficit was 25 GW due to a lack of production capacity. One of the key reasons is the imbalance between increasing consumption and the development of energy infrastructure.
According to intelligence, over 70% of thermal power plants in Russia have been in operation for over 30 years, exceeding their operational lifespan. This poses a threat to power transmission lines and leads to more frequent accidents. Regions not connected to the unified energy system of the country are particularly vulnerable.
Western sanctions related to military actions in Ukraine have an additional impact on the situation, as Russia has lost access to modern energy equipment and technologies. This complicates the process of modernizing networks and implementing energy-efficient solutions.
Ukrainian intelligence warns that the electricity deficit in Russia may negatively affect the country's economy and energy security. The danger extends to specific regions where malfunctioning electricity systems exist, posing a risk of accidents.
