New EU System for Ukrainians: How Border Crossing Will Change from 2025

According to information coming from the European Union, the European Union is implementing a new digital border control system that will replace the usual stamps in passports. This system, which will come into effect on October 12, 2025, will be mandatory for all citizens of non-EU countries, including Ukrainians.
Main changes:
- The system will be applied for tourist and business trips lasting up to 90 days within six months
- Instead of physical markings in documents, all information will be stored electronically
- The database will include: a photo, fingerprints (for individuals aged 12 and older), passport details, information about the time and place of border crossing, and data on entry bans
Procedure for passing:
- All travelers will need to leave their vehicle to provide biometric data
- The procedure for trains may vary depending on the specific border crossing point
- Refusal to provide biometrics will mean a ban on entry to the EU
Objectives of the innovation:
- Monitoring compliance with the duration of stay in the European Union
- Combatting the use of fake documents
- Increasing the level of security in the Schengen Area
