Deputy in someone else's military service
Скандал навколо депутата Дніпропетровської ради: виявлено фальшиву військову службу.

The State Bureau of Investigation reported that a deputy from the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council participated in fictitious military service to improve her political standing and receive unlawful payments from the state budget.

'The investigation revealed that the deputy underwent a military-medical commission, received a referral to a military training center, and confirmed the rank of 'soldier'. However, with the support of a friend – the deputy commander of the military unit – she actually did not participate in the training.'

The deputy's driver took her several times for the formal registration of documents, after which she simply attended and dealt with her own matters. The deputy held various positions in the unit but practically did not perform any duties. During this period, she unlawfully received over 200,000 UAH and spent it for personal needs.

Punishment for evasion of military service

During the investigation, the head of the military training center where the deputy 'served' accepted responsibility and refunded the illegal payments. The court found him guilty of aiding in evasion of service and sentenced him to a conditional term of 3 years. Meanwhile, the deputy herself and the officer who assisted her are accused of fraud and evasion of military service through deception, which may lead to up to 10 years of imprisonment. A civil lawsuit was also filed against the accused for the recovery of unlawfully obtained funds.

After the investigation, it became known that the deputy used fictitious military service solely to improve her political image and receive financial benefits from the state budget. The court has already imposed a punishment on the head of the training center, but the main defendants - the deputy herself and the officer who assisted her in these matters - may risk a long prison term.
