Development of Rehabilitation in Ukraine
The Ministry of Health places significant emphasis on the development of the rehabilitation system as one of the key areas of activity. This is a flagship project within the implementation of the National Strategy for the creation of a barrier-free environment in Ukraine. One of the priorities is to create the strongest rehabilitation system in Europe. Minister Lyashko emphasized that the network of centers of excellence is gradually expanding, as its goal is to ensure quality, accessible, and free rehabilitation assistance for all citizens.
Today we have already moved from construction to development. We have an ambitious goal - to create the strongest rehabilitation system in Europe - said Viktor Lyashko.
Improving Accessibility of Services
Ukraine already has 569 medical institutions providing rehabilitation assistance. In addition, funding for these services has tripled in 2025 compared to 2021. It is also important that the payment for services now depends on the complexity of the case, which allows for better consideration of the needs of patients with various injuries. In particular, different levels of payment have been developed depending on the complexity of the case.
In 2025, about 6.5 billion UAH is allocated for rehabilitation - three times more than in 2021 - emphasized Viktor Lyashko.
Modern Rehabilitation System in Ukraine
Over the past two years, the number of therapeutic sessions provided has significantly increased, as well as the number of patients receiving rehabilitation assistance. There are seven centers of excellence in operation, which have become bases for training specialists and spreading modern practices in the field of rehabilitation. The modernization of the rehabilitation infrastructure is also ongoing through the implementation of large projects across the country.
The Amputee Rehab Summit 2025 conference, in which the Minister of Health of Ukraine participated, emphasized the importance of developing the rehabilitation system in the country. Increasing the accessibility and quality of rehabilitation services is one of the key tasks in improving the medical system of Ukraine. Additional funding and the expansion of the network of centers of excellence will contribute to improving the health of patients and increasing the number of services provided.
