Ukraine Rejects Hungarian Allegations

According to Главком: Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has dismissed accusations from Hungary that it is unwilling to discuss the status of the damaged 'Druzhba' oil pipeline. Spokesperson Georgii Tykhyi stated that Hungary is politicizing a technical issue by making demands of Ukraine. The 'Druzhba' pipeline was damaged by a Russian strike, and Tykhyi emphasized that Ukraine is currently facing massive terror, including aerial bombardment from Russia.

Widespread Damage to Energy Infrastructure

Other Ukrainian pipelines, such as the Odesa-Brody line, have also been damaged due to the war. The European Commission has asked Ukraine for an approximate timeline for repairing the 'Druzhba' pipeline, though no precise restoration dates are yet available. The European Union has offered Ukraine technical support and funding for the repairs, an offer which Kyiv has accepted. This pipeline is a critical artery for supplying oil to parts of Central Europe.

In his comments, Georgii Tykhyi stressed that Ukraine is actively repairing its infrastructure but lacks unlimited resources due to the ongoing full-scale war.

“Ukraine is repairing all of this. But we do not have unlimited resources. We are fighting a full-scale war, which Hungary for some reason chooses to ignore,”

he noted. For its part, the European Union continues intensive negotiations with member states and Ukraine to restore oil supplies to Hungary and Slovakia.

This situation underscores the immense difficulty of restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure under wartime conditions and highlights the importance of international support for supply stability. Hungary, meanwhile, is seeking to resolve its energy issues, but political dimensions may complicate the matter. The restoration of the 'Druzhba' pipeline is a key element for regional energy security, and the EU's subsequent actions could significantly impact the situation for Ukraine and its neighbors.

In light of the ongoing discussions regarding the 'Druzhba' pipeline, it is important to note that the European Union has not yet established a timeline for the necessary repairs. This lack of a definitive schedule could impact not only Ukraine's energy stability but also the supply chain for neighboring countries.
